Fritz-Frank-Award

DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR SÄUGETIERKUNDE

 
The DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR SÄUGETIERKUNDE (German Society for Mammalian Biology) opens the competition for the FRITZ-FRANK-AWARD 2012. The award consists of € 3,000 and is intended for promoting excellent scientific work in mammalian biology. Candidates may submit papers or doctoral theses published within the last three calendar years. At the time of publication the candidate must have been younger than 33 years. Suitable topics are phylogeny and systematics, biogeography, ethology, ecology, and population biology of mammals. Five copies of the respective publications or theses along with a curriculum vitae must be submitted until April 15th 2012 to the managing secretary (Dr. Philip Dammann, Universitätsklinikum Essen, Zentrales Tierlaboratorium, Hufelandstr. 55,  45122 Essen; e-mail). A jury will decide upon the qualification of the candidates. (current statute of the FFA in German)


In 2011 the FFA was given to Karin Lebl (Vienna) for her excellent Ph.D thesis: "The reproductive decision in edible dormice and resulting consequences on their survival probability". 

She received the award certificate from the society's president, Klaus Hackländer, at the annual meeting of the German Society for Mammalian Biology in Luxemburg (Sept. 2011).
